There shouldn't be any files written to the C drive, just to my Thunderbird Portable folder, which is on my E drive. All your data such as messages, passwords and user preferences, and changes made while you use Thunderbird, are stored in a special folder called a profile. This is totally unacceptable, since this is supposed to be a portable application. Thunderbird crashed and now whenever I start TB I cant find my profile data (even some settings seem to have been reset, but it finds my addons). Its been working fine for years, but lately I purchased an extension cable for the HDD usb cable and it lead to I/O issues. You could launch Mozilla Thunderbird with a -profile 'path' command line argument that specifies the profiles new location, to verify the profile works, and that. Ctrl-o works as expected with this folder, as does a right-click, choose Open message in a new Tab/window, but the double-click on a message always opens a Write window. The Profile and its sub folders and files are on my C drive (C:\Users\user1\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\fault-nightly). I have a Thunderbird Portable install in an external HDD, connected via USB. If Portable Thunderbird has a problem with your profile try transferring only the most important files from your old profile to one created by Portable Thunderbird, per this article. I haven't seen any comments on this on the Thunderbird Bugs Discussion, either, so I'm wondering whether it's possible that something about the portable is making my Local Folders folder behave as though it's a Drafts folder. I have checked on Windows Eleven Forum with several of my colleagues there who are running 117.0b3, but the installed version, and none of them are experiencing this. This happens on both my office desktops, both Windows 11 Pro 22h2 2134, with Thunderbird Beta Test installed to my programs & data drive, not on my C:\ drive on either PC. view EML files from Live mail, Outlook Express, Apple Mail, Thunderbird, etc. But today I noticed that if I double-click a message in my Archives folder (in Local Folders), a Composition (Write) window opens, instead of a reading tab or window. Dbxthen the original folder became corrupted and OE created a new file. I installed TBird 116 Test a few days ago, and it updated successfully through a first 117 version to the current 117.0b3.
